About Us:
Cane Capital is a dynamic and lean trading firm focused on generating alpha across equity and equity derivatives markets.
We are based in Tallinn, Estonia.
We operate with minimal bureaucracy, direct access to capital and robust technology. The environment is intensely competitive, performance-driven, and demands unwavering commitment. We win by being smarter, faster, and more disciplined. If you’re looking for a comfortable corporate ladder, this isn’t it. If you have some experience in finance and you’re looking for a meritocracy where your P&L is your only metric, read on.
The Role:
We are seeking highly ambitious, intellectually rigorous, and inherently competitive individual to join as a junior equity trader. This is not a training wheels position – you will be supported by access to various research firms and third party data providers along with a risk limit from day one. You will be immersed in live market environments and expected to contribute to P&L rapidly.
Requirements & What We Are Looking For:
Raw Intelligence & Quantitative Acumen: You don’t need a PhD in theoretical physics, but you must be genuinely sharp. This means a strong academic background in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics) from a top-tier institution. Your mental math, probability, and logical reasoning will be tested.
Demonstrated Competitive Drive & Resilience: Have you competed at a high level in anything – sports, chess, poker, competitive programming, entrepreneurial ventures? Show us a history of pushing yourself, winning, and, more importantly, rebounding fiercely from failure. You should thrive under pressure, not wilt.
Obsessive Curiosity for Markets: This isn’t a 9-to-5. You need to be someone genuinely fascinated by how markets move, why they move, and what drives price action. You should be spending your free time dissecting news, understanding macro drivers, etc. If your interest in trading starts and ends with a paycheck, you won’t last.
Analytical Rigor & Problem-Solving: You can break down complex problems, identify key variables, and formulate hypotheses. You can interpret data, understand statistical concepts (even if you haven’t memorized every formula), and apply them practically – looking for practical, profitable insights.
Extreme Discipline & Emotional Control: Your emotions are your enemy in this field. You must possess an almost unnatural ability to stick to a plan, manage risk meticulously, and avoid impulsive decisions, especially under stress. We need verifiable evidence of this discipline in your life.
Proactive & Self-Sufficient Learner: We provide the framework and the tools and help you out at first, but we don’t spoon-feed till eternity. You will be expected to rapidly absorb new concepts, identify your own weaknesses, and actively seek knowledge. If you wait to be told what to do, you’re not a fit.
Technological Aptitude: You don’t need to be a programmer, but comfort with data, spreadsheets, and understanding basic trading platforms is essential. Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages is a significant plus.
Integrity & Accountability: This is non-negotiable. We operate on trust. You own your mistakes, learn from them, and move forward.
What We Are NOT Looking For:
- Individuals seeking a relaxed work-life balance.
- Those who require constant validation or hand-holding.
- Anyone who isn’t prepared for intense scrutiny and direct feedback.
- People who blame external factors for their failures.
Compensation: Base salary + uncapped performance-based bonus directly tied to your P&L and contribution.
Application Process: Submit your resume and a brief, concise cover letter (no more than 300 words) detailing:
- Your clearest example of competitive drive and resilience.
- What specifically draws you to proprietary trading as opposed to other finance roles.
- Any direct experience or demonstrable interest in equities or equity derivatives trading.
This is an opportunity to prove yourself in one of the most demanding and rewarding fields. If you believe you have what it takes to generate consistent P&L, reach out to hi [at] canecap.com
